Looking Back, Looking Forward

It is a spiritual and strategic journey which engages the entire church family in praying and discerning God’s leading.

Last Sunday:  I am so thankful for our pastoral staff and others who served me last Sunday!  In short order our pastors – Bro. Joel, Bro. Mike, and Bro. Tim – stepped in to cover my Sunday responsibilities.  Upon hearing late Saturday afternoon that I would not be present on Sunday due to Covid, these three men went into action.  “I’ll take that.  I’ll do this.  I can cover this.  I’ll run with that.”  It was a loaded Sunday and our pastors took on extra loads to minister effectively throughout the day.  From taking on the baptisms, to preaching the morning message, to leading the prayer walk at the high school, to taking my part in the evening discipleship celebration, these brothers served me, our church, and Jesus tremendously.  In addition, two of our deacons, Larry Wells and Caleb Bristow, shouldered my Sunday School and D-Group responsibilities on short notice.  Thank you, men.  God has truly blessed our church with good leadership.  Let us give Him thanks.

February:  Throughout this month ahead we will learn about “The Prism Journey for Churches”.  This is an opportunity for our church family, with the aid of a church consultant, to seek God together for His future for us.  It is a spiritual and strategic journey which engages the entire church family in praying and discerning God’s leading.  We plan to present for discussion “The Prism Journey” at a Special Business Meeting – February 15th.  We invite questions and further discussion in the days that follow.  If we believe God is directing us to proceed, we’d like to vote to proceed at a Special Business Meeting on Sunday – February 26th.  You will be hearing more about “The Prism Journey” and receive accompanying written materials prior to February 15th meeting.  Until then, please be praying about this opportunity.

Thank you, church family,
Cecil Sanders
