What He’s Done…What He’s Doing

Many served with Christlike attitudes and actions. Let me highlight two upcoming opportunities.

Someone remarked that Easter Sunday is like ‘Super Bowl Sunday’ for the Christians and for the Church.  It truly is a Big Day!  Everyone makes plans to be in town, to be with family, and to be in church on Easter Sunday.  Once again, we experienced this last Sunday as we met to celebrate our resurrected Christ.  It was a great day of worshiping Jesus for ‘What He’s Done’ for us by His loving sacrifice and glorious resurrection!

What God is Doing is making us more like Christ.  Jesus came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45).  When we serve, it indicates selflessness like Christ.  When we serve, it reveals His transforming work in and through us.  This was on full display Easter morning.  Thank you to everyone who served.  Our church staff, campus patrol, technology team, parking lot attendants, audio-visual servants, musicians, Sunday School workers, worship decoration team, ushers, greeters, ‘chair-toters’, childcare team and many others served with Christlike attitudes and actions.  Thank you so much!  Thanks also to those who helped accommodate our many guests by parking on the west side of campus and by volunteering to worship in the Chapel overflow venue.  Christ was exalted and demonstrated as we gathered Easter Sunday.

How is the Lord directing you to serve?  What gifts, talents, abilities and passions has He hard-wired in you so that in exercising them people see and experience Christ in you?  Have you found a ministry in which to serve?  Jesus said, “Whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.”  (Matthew 20:26-27)  Serving Jesus and others marks us as belonging to Him.

Let me highlight two upcoming opportunities on Saturday, May 13th.  ‘Serve Day’ is the opportunity for our men and boys to be Christ’s hands and helpers for our FBCH widows who need our assistance.  Please sign up soon to help.  Also, remember to place non-perishable food items in your mailbox on May 13th for the ‘Overflowing Ministries’ foodbank ministry.

Serve on, Church Family!
