In Resemblance of Me

We are most like Jesus when we serve!

Jesus’s teaching on greatness is antithetical to worldly understanding.  The worldly perspective sees greatness as one having authority and control over other people. Jesus says just the opposite,

But Jesus called them to Himself, and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. "It is not so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Jesus teaches that great people serve others.  And Jesus Himself is the Model Servant in laying down His life for undeserving sinners like you and me.  He wants us to resemble Him as servants.

On Wednesday night in our Regular Business Meeting the church will receive the reports of the Nominating Committee and the Committee on Committees.  The Nominating Committee prayerfully seeks men and women to serve in the education ministries of our church.  The Committee on Committees searches for church members to serve on the 33 committees of our church.  For the upcoming 2022-23 church year the Nominating Committee Report lists 114 serving in education and the Committee on Committees Report lists 219 serving on committees.  That’s 327 FBCH believers serving Christ and His Church!

Join me in thanking God for these men and women who love Him and love our church family.  These selfless and sacrificial servants are the ‘great ones’ among us!
